An official inauguration of the 230 MW Garadagh Solar Power Plant has been held. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev graced the momentous ceremony with his presence.
A pivotal moment leading up to this achievement was marked on January 9, 2020. On this date, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan formed a strategic alliance with the UAE's Masdar Company, culminating in the signing of an Implementation Agreement. This Agreement set the foundation for an ambitious pilot project for the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 230 MW, to be overseen by "Masdar."
This commitment to sustainable energy was further cemented on April 6, 2021. Key agreements, namely the Investment agreement, Power Purchase agreement, and Transmission Connection agreement, were executed between the Ministry of Energy, Azerenergy OJSC, and the “Masdar” Company of the United Arab Emirates. Strategically located 9 km northwest of the Alat settlement, the project's impressive capacity of 230 MW underscores Azerbaijan's dedication to pioneering green energy solutions. These milestones underscore Azerbaijan's commitment to a brighter, sustainable energy future.
